Coaches' Biographies

Head Coach - Rob Boyle rob_bio

Rob is a native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Rob is currently an Assistant Coach with the Central Hockey League's Wichita Thunder. Prior to that, he was the Head Coach of the University of Virginia Men's Club team. He coached and played at Concordia University in Montreal and was a player/coach in Europe. Rob has instructed at a variety of hockey schools in Canada, the United States and the Czech Republic. He is a Level 5 coach with USA Hockey and is an Advanced Level with the Canadian Hockey Association. Rob is an excellent communicator and outstanding instructor. His ability to inject humor at almost anytime helps create a relaxed and enjoyable learning environment.

Rob will serve as the Head Coach for all Weekend Warriors' camp locations. Joining Rob will be several coaches described below, which will vary by location.

At every camp, Rob offers to answer any and all hockey related questions that you may have. He extends this offer to any questions that come up after the camp concludes. Coach - Kevin Figsbykevin_bio

Kevin is the Head Hockey Coach at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. He is a successful motivator with more than 20 years of coaching experience at the (Canadian) provincial, national and international levels.

Kevin has served as Guest Coach with the Montreal Canadiens in 2003; Head Coach at the World Under 17 Championships in 1995 Bronze Medalist; Team Canada Coach at the World University Games in 2005; Guest Coach for the Canadian National Team in 1995 and 1997. Presently among a select group of International Coaches who have earned the Master Coach designation through Hockey Canada.

Kevin's sense of humor, depth of knowledge, and unique ability to take aside a struggling player and help that player improve his or her game make Kevin a favorite at every camp.

Coach - Nick Carriere nick_bio

Nick Carriere is currently the Head Coach of Buffalo State College Men’s Division III hockey team. Prior to this, Nick was the assistant coach at Fredonia State, where he worked extensively in the program's recruiting efforts in New York, Ontario, Quebec, Michigan and Ohio. He also has nine years of experience working with various hockey camps, including the Buffalo Sabres Hockey School, the European Development Camp, and Can/Am Hockey Schools. He also served as an assistant coach in the 2003 Eastern College Division Senior All-Star Game.

Nick is a native of Montreal, Quebec. He attended Niagara University, where he played Division I hockey. Following graduation, he played professional hockey in both Rockford and Adirondack of the United Hockey League.

Nick is extremely knowledgeable, has excellent communication skills, a great sense of humor, an intense love for the game, and is an excellent demonstrator of skating and hockey skills.

Coach - Nate Handrahan nate_bio

Nate is currently the head coach of the women's hockey Program at Robert Morris University located just outside of Pittsburgh, PA. Prior to that, he was an assistant with Robert Morris' men's program since they entered Division I in 2004.

Nate graduated from Niagara University in 2000, where he played Division I hockey for the Purple Eagles. The year after he graduated, he served as an assistant coach for Niagara, where his duties included off-ice training, scouting, game film review, and coaching the team’s defensemen.

During his collegiate career in hockey, Nate played in every game for the Niagara Purple Eagles through four years. The former defenseman, who played under current UMass-Lowell head coach Blaise MacDonald, was a two time All-ECAC West selection and holds the Niagara record for most consecutive games played (129).

Following the 1999-2000 season, Handrahan was signed by the Roanoke Express of the East Coast Hockey League, where he played the remainder of the 2000 season and 2000-2001 season.

Nate's friendly nature, extensive knowledge, as well as his familiarity with the women's game make him a valuable member of our core staff.

Coach - Jamie Kompon jamie_bio

We are proud to have Jamie Kompon join the Weekend Warriors staff for our Lake Tahoe camps, and we hope to have him as often as possible at future camps, as he is always a favorite among the players. Jamie keeps a very busy schedule. He is currently an assistant with the LA Kings. Previous to that, Jamie served on the coaching staff of the St. Louis Blues from 1997-2006, serving at various times as Assistant Coach, Video Coach and Strength & Conditioning Coach.

Jamie originally hails from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. He has been involved in hockey all of his life. After starring at Montreal's McGill University, he played professionally in Germany and then in the East Coast Hockey League. His coaching career began in 1991 at Montreal's Loyola High School. He then went on to coach his alma mater, McGill, and then to the AHL's Baltimore Bandits before coming to St. Louis in 1997. In addition, Jamie has coached extensively at several hockey schools

Jamie's strong and friendly personality, knowledge of the game and vast hockey coaching and playing experience make him an outstanding addition to our staff.

Goalie Coach - Jim Copéljim_bio

Jim Copél's coaching career has included serving as the Head Coach of the California State University of Sacramento men's ice hockey team as well as the goaltending coach for the San Jose Junior B Sharks, Sacramento Flames Midget A team, and St. Mary's College ice hockey team.

Jim studied under former NHL goaltender John Blue (Boston Bruins). He has also served as an assistant goaltending coach under Vladislav Tretiak (Soviet Red Army Team) at the International Hockey Schools, Jim Corsi (Buffalo Sabres) at the Corsi Goaltending Schools, and several other hockey schools.

Jim is the goalie coach at several of our locations.

Coach - Vince Williamsvince_bio

Vince is a native of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and is currently an assistant coach with the ECHL's Trenton Devils, a farm team and subsidiary of the New Jersey Devils. Prior to coaching for the Devils, Vince played 8 years of professional hockey as a defenseman with teams in both the ECHL and IHL. During this time he won the Kelly Cup as part of the ECHL's Trenton Titans and the Turner Cup with the IHL's Orlando Solar Bears.

Vince is extremely knowledgeable, passionate, friendly and outgoing, which make him a perfect fit for the Weekend Warriors team.
