Come to sunny South Lake Tahoe, CA, an amazing outdoor playground with a huge variety of activities for outdoor enthusiasts, casinos for those wishing to play a different type of game, and of course Weekend Warriors Adult Hockey Academy!

The Rink

The camp will be held at the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena.  This is a state of the art facility located in the heart of South Lake Tahoe.  It is one of the cleanest and brightest (there is a giant window that looks out on the beautiful outdoor surroundings) ice facility we have ever seen, and the staff goes out of their way to accommodate the needs of our staff and players.  It is a true pleasure to hold and attend a camp at this rink.  You may visit their website at: http://www.recreationintahoe.com/icearena.htm

Hotel Accommodations

(The hotel information is from the 2008 season, and is only provided as a guide. 2009 info will be posted as soon as it is finalized.  Do not attempt to make a reservation until the 2009 information is posted)

Hotel: Best Western - Timber Cove Lodge

Rate: $68/night. This is an outstanding rate that we are able to get because it is not yet peak season, and we have been coming here for several years.  Book rooms 30 days in advance to guarantee availability at the negotiated rate.  This rate is for non-view rooms.  However, the hotel has expressed that they can book rooms with views of the lake at a higher rate with a similar discount applied.

Reservations: May be made directly with the hotel at 530-541-6722 or toll-free at 800-972-8558.  Be sure to let them know you are with the "Weekend Warriors Hockey" group.  Because these numbers are answered by a national reservation line during off hours, we recommend that you call for your reservations between 9 AM and 5 PM Pacific time (7 days a week), and confirm that you are speaking with the local property in Lake Tahoe.  (Often times the personnel that answer the national reservation lines are not aware of special group arrangements like the ones we have negotiated with the property.)

Location: ½ mile from arena.

Wireless Internet: Hotel has free high speed wireless internet access in the 100, 300 and 400 buildings.  If you would like this access, be sure to inform the reservationist when you book your room.

Website: http://www.timbercovetahoe.com/

If you are coming alone and would like to share a room with another player, please let us know, and we will try to make these arrangements for you, but cannot guarantee that a roommate will be available.  For best opportunity, call early.

Alternative Accommodations for those that want to rough it:  Campground By The Lake

This campground is located adjacent to the arena.  You can roll out of bed and into your skates, but you'll need to bring your bed.  If you choose this option, please call them directly to book a site at 530-542-6096.  You can also view their website at www.recreationintahoe.com.

*Note: The 2009 schedule will be posted as the camp date gets closer, but it is likely to be very close to the 2008 version.

Player Activities Off the Rink

Weekend Warriors is about more than just learning and playing hockey.  It is an entire weekend experience of fun, learning and camaraderie.  In order to achieve this goal, we will:

  •  Host a "Break the Ice" Party on Thursday evening, which will follow the first skate.  This will give you an opportunity to get to know your coaches and  fellow players.  Coming with a spouse or friend who is not playing?  They are welcome to join us.

  • Host a Banquet Dinner on Saturday evening for all players, coaches and staff.  And if you have come with a non-playing spouse, friend or family member, please bring them along.  They are welcome to join the fun for the cost of the meal.
  • Help you plan any other activities that may interest you.

Activities for Attending Spouses/Families of Players

Some players may wish to bring their spouse or family along.  Lake Tahoe certainly has a plethora of different activities to offer.  The local members of our staff can tell you anything you want to know about area activities and recreational opportunities that you may want to take advantage of during your stay.  Additionally, the following websites can help identify any of the many offerings:

Are you flying in?

The South Tahoe Express offers several daily departures between the Reno Airport and South Lake Tahoe for those not wishing to rent a car.  Fees are approximately $24.00 one way, and $43.00 round trip.  Additional fuel surcharges may apply.  For more details visit their site at: http://www.southtahoeexpress.com/
